Here's the thing that's struck us most after riding it. In every other parawing we've ridden, you're always compromising. You get ease of flying and general cruising, or you get the ability to stash, pack away and free ride downwind.
Ozone feels like they've designed the first truly comparable parawing to a traditional wing foiling hand wing. The Afterburner is the first parawing that comes close to something that could totally replace your wing quiver (in theory - although we will forever love our wingfoiling), without the usual compromise.
Yes, if you're chasing speed and efficiency and want to hammer upwind before embarking on the best downwind run you've done to date, this parawing is exactly what you've been after. But it's also stable and reliable enough that we think plenty of riders will choose the Afterburner simply because they want to enjoy parawinging the way they enjoy wing foiling. Efficient, comfortable, confidence-inspiring flying, with none of the usual give-and-take.
Why the Afterburner is different?
Parawinging is still a young sport, and most products within the market are still developing to the standard that we see in wing foiling. More efficient top end usually compromises your low-end power, or stashability. The Afterburner is built to close that gap, and we think it does a really good job of this.

The idea is simple: hammer upwind, cover longer distances and then enjoy the best downwind runs you can imagine. Ozone even suggest starting your session at your finishing point, so the car (and a cold drink in the cooler) is waiting for you at the end. It's a welcome change, and possibly the end of organising a lift home after a downwinder, making you completely self-sufficient for the whole session.
Who it's for?
This isn't a parawing for riders who want to stash and redeploy every 30 seconds, though the stashability is far better than we expected. It's made for riders committed to covering distance, pushing hard upwind and obsessed with long downwind runs. If you've already got decent stashing technique, the Afterburner will reward you, but in our view it's not the easiest wing in the range to pack away in a hurry.
Saying this, don't mistake it for a speed-only wing. Its stability in the wind window also suits riders who've got their parawing game to a reasonable level and want a genuinely enjoyable, low-drama flying experience while they push their performance. Yes, it goes fast upwind, but it also delivers accessible performance, solid de-power and a stability we haven't felt in a parawing before.
If you want speed, drive, upwind performance and strong wind handling, the Afterburner sits at the top of Ozone's range of parawings. Stashability and redeployment are solid, just not class-leading, so if that's your main priority there are probably better options out there. Think of the Afterburner as the high-aspect, speed-focused option above the do-it-all Pocket Rocket V2 and the stashable PowerPack.
What does the Afterburner come with, and how much does it cost?
We're really pleased to see the Afterburner arrives with a pre-integrated harness line, something nearly all parawingers we know are using every session now. It also comes with a rucksack-style bag that doubles as a spare parawing bag out on the water, handy if the wind speed changes mid-session. Two small additions, but they make a real difference to the buying experience.
Now, the price. It's expensive. For example, a 3.0m Afterburner is £1,350.00, which we totally understand is a lot of money. Parawings are extremely technical products and the technology and attention to detail in the Afterburner is fantastic, which inevitably costs. From the laser cutting on each individual cell, to the carbon monobloc bar. There are brilliant parawings on the market for less, but in our view, if you've got the fun money to spend, this one's worth it for the classic Ozone build quality, undeniable innovation and truly exceptional performance.
Our Final Thoughts

Whether you're looking to invest in a parawing that is going to allow you to push your skills to the next level, including easier tacks and manoeuvres, whilst enjoying some epic downwind runs with friends, or if you're looking to seriously experience the fastest, most exhilarating angles possible on a parawing before stashing away for bump hopping for miles, this wing could truly be what you've been looking for.
There are, of course, improvements we'd always love to see. The key aspect that springs to mind here is stashability, as it will be slightly trickier to stash than some other parawings on the market, because it has longer lines and more material to manage on those pack downs.
