Ozone Vortex V2 Ultra-X Kite

The Ozone Vortex V2 Ultra-X sharpens up everything that made the V1 such a strong big air machine. A full Aluula airframe now covers the entirety of the leading edge and all three struts and a stiffer leading edge with re-designed higher tension in the canopy gives an even more precise, direct steering so you know exactly where the kite is without ever needing to look for it.

  • Dedicated big air and kite loop specialist
  • 3-strut, full Aluula airframe construction
  • Stiffer leading edge and retensioned canopy for more direct steering feel
  • 16-point bridle system, refined for improved depower and precision
  • New 17m size for pushing big air in lighter wind
  • Intermediate+ to advanced riders

Our Test Team Thoughts

"We had the chance to compare a customer's Vortex V1 when the 9m V2 was with us. On a direct one-to-one basis, we could feel that the V2 felt a little quicker, responded to bar input quicker, and the power delivery seemed smoother through all jumps and loops. Our conclusion is that if you haven't flown a Vortex and you can find one still on the market, go for a V1, and if you've got a V1, bearing in mind it's not a cheap kite, there's no real rush to go and buy yourself a V2 as an upgrade. If there are no more V1s out there, then getting straight into a V2 is going to give you a heck of a ride."

Performance & Feel

The V2 builds directly on the V1's Aluula platform, but the frame now runs the entire way through the leading edge and all three struts, giving 38% greater tensile strength and up to seven times the tear resistance of Dacron at 30% less weight. That stiffer leading edge, paired with a retensioned canopy, is what sharpens the steering most: input through the bar translates into movement faster and more precisely, so pinpointing the kite's position becomes second nature rather than something you have to think about.

Ozone have also reworked the signature 16-point bridle system, adjusting the geometry for improved depower feel and more precision across the wind range. New anti-flap battens sit on the underside of the canopy with added reinforcement, cutting down on wear so the kite keeps performing like new for longer. On 10m and up, a lighter double ripstop canopy shaves up to 150g off the larger sizes, while 9m and below keep the tougher triple ripstop cloth for ballistic strength when the wind really picks up.

The result is a kite that turns fast and predictably, drives forward hard enough to prevent stalling, and delivers a reliably catchable landing every time, whether you're throwing your first loop or chaining triples. The new 17m size extends that same big air confidence into properly light wind, so you're not limited to foiling when the breeze drops. Whichever size you're flying, the Vortex V2 Ultra-X is built to fill you confidence in any heart-pumping situation.
