AK Phazer V5 Foilboard

The AK Phazer V5 takes the shape that made the range what it is and refines it where it counts. A narrower, longer outline than the V4 extends the waterline, and the result is a board that glides more efficiently, gets onto foil earlier, and recovers from touchdowns more cleanly. Same disciplines: surf foil, wing foil, pump foil, tow foil. Same ten sizes, 30L to 140L. Just a sharper, more capable version of the Phazer.

  • Surf foil, wing foil, pump foil and tow foil
  • Active Carbon construction
  • Narrower, longer outline than the V4 for improved glide and directional stability
  • Low swing weight, easy to pump and turn
  • All levels, depending on size

Performance & Feel

Everything that's new about the V5 starts with the shape. Narrower and longer than the V4, the extended waterline improves glide as you build speed toward take-off, with better directional stability on the surface and cleaner touchdown recovery.

Touchdowns are cleaner too. The narrow nose is less likely to catch through turns, the slight nose kick stops the board pearling, and the rounded V releases from the water without sticking. The flat tail rocker keeps the foil at 90 degrees in flight so trimming stays easy. None of this is new to the Phazer shape, but the V5 outline makes all of it work more smoothly.

What hasn't changed is the Active Carbon construction: full biaxial carbon top deck over a fused EPS core, wood sandwich underfoot, and a heavy-duty load plate carrying the foil load directly to the deck. Still stiff, still light, still direct.

Each size runs longer and narrower than the equivalent V4 volume, so if you're coming from a V4, factor that in when sizing. The small sizes, 30L to 46L, are for experienced foilers. The mid sizes, 55L to 90L, are the sweet spot across disciplines. The larger sizes, 110L to 140L, are where newer foilers come in, with enough volume to get up on foil quickly and start enjoying the sport.

Key Features

  • Active Carbon construction: full biaxial carbon top deck over a fused EPS core, wood sandwich standing areas for stiffness, strength and low weight
  • Heavy-duty foil connection: high-density load plate carries the foil load directly to the top deck for a direct connection between foil and rider
  • Narrower, longer outline than the V4: extended waterline for improved glide, directional stability and cleaner touchdowns
  • Carving surf outline: convex nose for soft touchdowns, hard release tail for early planing
  • Thick profile and high apex rail: volume optimised for stability and nimbleness without adding swing weight
  • Concave deck: stable and connected underfoot, volume in the rails for stability on foil
  • Narrow nose: faster to paddle, less likely to catch through turns; widest point forward for efficient paddling
  • Rocker curve: slight nose kick prevents pearling and aids touchdown recovery; flat tail rocker maximises paddle speed and keeps the foil at 90 degrees in flight
  • Ten sizes, 30L to 140L: consistent feel underfoot across the range makes sizing up or down between disciplines intuitive
