AK Nomad V2 Foilboard

The AK Nomad V2 is a lightwind crossover foilboard built in line with the most popular mid-length designs. Get up in super light wind, catch lazy waves prone, or cover ground downwinding. The six sizes span enough range that two well-chosen volumes could cover almost every foil discipline you'd want to ride. The big upgrade this version is Active Carbon construction: stiffer, lighter and more responsive than the V1, with the same intuitive character.

  • Lightwind crossover foilboard
  • Active Carbon construction
  • Parallel outline, volume distributed for flight
  • Forward foil box, consistent stance
  • Concave deck, lower centre of gravity
  • Pin tail and narrow nose for glide and release
  • Intermediate+ riders

Performance & Feel

The construction is the headline upgrade. Active Carbon wraps a fused EPS core with 200g glass layers, wood sandwich in the standing areas for stiffness underfoot, and a full biaxial carbon layer on deck and rails. The heavy-duty foil connection plate carries the load directly from foil to rider, so nothing is lost in flex. The result is a board that pumps efficiently and responds immediately.

The shape does the same job it always has, just refined. The parallel outline keeps volume evenly distributed for stability on the surface and an easy take-off. The forward foil box position is notably long, giving you room to balance different foil systems and keeping your stance consistent while building speed to flying, with no shuffling between the two. The revised tail is cleaner than the V1, releasing smoothly rather than popping up, and that flatter rear planing surface promotes an immediate, clean exit from the water.

Size is where the range gets interesting. The smaller volumes, 46L to 55L, work brilliantly as prone foilboards and committed wing sinkers in good conditions. The mid sizes sit in the sweet spot for wingfoiling, getting you up in marginal wind on a smaller, more comfortable wing than you'd otherwise need. The larger volumes, 95L to 135L, are where the downwind and SUP foil capability really opens up, with enough positive buoyancy to get into small waves and stay patient in light conditions. Two well-chosen sizes from this range could cover almost everything you'd want to do on foil.

Key Features

  • Active Carbon construction: full biaxial carbon top deck and rails over a fused EPS core, with 200g glass layers and wood sandwich standing areas for stiffness, strength and low weight
  • Heavy-duty foil connection: high-density load plate carries the foil load directly to the top deck for a direct connection between foil and rider
  • Parallel outline: volume distributed for flight, stable on the surface and balanced underfoot
  • Forward foil box position: long box keeps your stance consistent from paddling through to flight, balanced front to back on foil for easy pumping and manoeuvrability
  • Concave deck: volume oriented toward the nose to prevent bog-down on the front foot; lower centre of gravity for a stable platform
  • Pin tail and narrow nose: clean water release and efficient glide in conjunction with the narrow overall width
  • Displacement nose, planing tail bottom shape: low-speed glide into smooth touch-downs and immediate release
  • GORE Auto Vent: equalises internal pressure and diffuses moisture before it becomes a problem
