The Phazer shape gives a beginner a lot to work with. The concave deck keeps you stable and connected underfoot while you're still building confidence, with volume in the rails to resist rollovers. The wide tail gives you a forgiving, stable platform on the surface, and the harder release edges and stepped rail help the board get onto the plane earlier, so you're not fighting the water to get up. Once you're flying, the flat tail rocker keeps the foil trimmed at 90 degrees for balanced, predictable flight, the kick tail lifts the nose cleanly off the water when you need it, and the rounded V nose recovers from the touchdowns you will take without killing your speed.

Duratech sits below carbon in the construction hierarchy: a little heavier, but more resistant to the knocks that come with learning, and priced to match. At 110L there's enough volume to stay stable on the surface and build speed into take-off without rushing.
