Performance & Feel

The ART V2 asks for a bit more experience to get going than the Spitfire. However, it shares loads of its surf performance characteristics, tuning them for wing while also borrowing learnings from its higher aspect foils in the Axis range. The flying speed sits higher, so build speed before easing pressure onto the tail rather than muscling it up early. Once airborne it accelerates hard, reaching a top speed a touch higher than the Spitfire, though it requires more sensitive tuning at speed, which is to be expected.

The turning is surprisingly smooth for a wing this size, helped by the tapered, elliptical outline that keeps the tips light and the roll predictable. It won't carve quite as tight as the Spitfire, but foil 360s, jibes and turns all come through cleanly with just a little pressure, and at high speed it stays composed rather than pushing down towards the surface, keeping it feeling controllable even when pushed.

Glide is where the ART V2 really stands out, the near-metre span and elliptical lift distribution keeping it flying on almost endlessly through knee to waist-high swells. It holds enough speed to catch swells from behind and pump onto the next wave face, making it a fantastic all-round performance option for not just wingers but a wide range of foilers.
