Performance & Feel

Turning is where the Surge stands apart from the rest of the range. Push down through the rail and it holds a banked turn brilliantly, rewarding front-foot commitment with a roll response that feels closer to a surfboard than a typical high aspect wing, and pitch stability through the turn is notably smoother than other wings in the Axis line-up.

When starting, the lift arrives early and abruptly, spiking a burst of power that projects both up and forward for a quick, confident take-off. The stall is also predictable and gives plenty of warning, and foot pressure stays consistent as speed drops. Pumping is forgiving too, allowing you to do short taps to keep you going between bumps, and it's just as helpful when rebuilding speed after a mistake or after running out of energy. In whitewater the Surge feels very settled for a higher aspect ratio foil, resisting ventilation well and tolerating tip breaches through turns without punishing you for it.

It sits between the freeride-focused ART V2 and Spitfire and the high aspect downwind wings Fireball and Tempo, filling the gap for riders who want a foil built specifically for wave riding but with glide and carry like some of the more high-aspect, downwind-focused counterparts in the range.
