The Ballistic sits at the top of ION's footwear line, built for the sessions where bare feet aren't an option: cold water, and entries over rock, reef or shell. The rubberised Kevlar outsole is the heart of it, woven into the sole to resist cuts and tears, wrapped up around the toe to save you stubbing on rocks or your board, and grippy enough that you can cross sharp ground with confidence.

Inside, the Plasma Plush 2.0 lining traps air in a high pile for warmth and runs vertical channels that move water away from your skin, which is what gets them drying between sessions. Max_Flex panels keep the neoprene stretchy, so even at 3/2mm you get a fair amount of feel and feedback through the foot. The round toe keeps things warm and simple, with no split for water to move around; if you want more dexterity and connection to the board, the Internal Split is the one to look at. A printed entry guide and smart shaping mean they go on and come off without a fight, even when your hands have stopped working in the cold.
