ION Element 5/4 Back Zip Wetsuit
The ION Element 5/4 Back Zip is the warmest suit in the Element line, built for getting in the water through the cold months when a 4/3 isn't enough. 5mm of neoprene over the core and 4mm through the arms and legs hold the heat deep into winter, so with boots, gloves and a hood you keep riding when the water's at its coldest. Like the rest of the Element range it brings technology from further up the ION line, the Seek Core and Seek Amp, down to an everyday price, with the same fuss-free back zip entry. It's built from limestone neoprene and a water-based Aqua Alpha glue, lowering the suit's environmental impact.

Performance & Feel
The Element sits one step up from the Static at the accessible end of ION's wetsuit range, and like the rest of the line it brings tech from the Seek Core and Seek Amp suits down to an everyday price. The 5/4 is the warmest suit in the range: 5mm over the core and 4mm through the arms and legs hold heat through the cold months. For most UK water that makes it a winter suit, best paired with boots, gloves and a hood to seal in the warmth when the water's at its coldest.
Entry is the easy, fuss-free back zip, with a Flushguard panel to keep water out. The suit is built from limestone neoprene and bonded with a water-based Aqua Alpha glue, lowering its environmental impact. Inside, it runs the same two ION linings as the rest of the range. Hot_Stuff 2.0, the stretchiest thermal lining ION make, sits across the chest and back to keep your core and torso toasty and warm, while the lighter Silk_Stuff through the shoulders and arms stays soft on the skin, stretches well, dries quickly and aids getting the suit on and off. Seams are glued and blind-stitched, with fusion reinforcement on the highest-stress areas and Melco tape added to the load-bearing sections of the suit, plus shin protection on the front of the legs.
None of this is reinventing the wheel. It's an honest, comfortable, stretchy 5/4 that does its job across every discipline, from a surf to an open-water swim to a kite, wing or SUP session, keeping you in the water through the coldest months without asking much of your wallet. If you mainly ride autumn and spring, the 4/3 Element is the lighter option.
