Performance & Feel

The North Astra uses biaxial hybrid carbon 380gsm e-glass with 3DY unidirectional carbon reinforcement following the natural load paths from bindings to edge, over a Paulownia wood core.  The result is a board that flexes, loads, and releases cleanly for a lighter rider rather than just sitting underfoot and waiting to be powered up.

The base is the same as the North Atmos with a double concave into a deep-V centre spine which breaks the surface tension on landings and through chop and spreads impact smoothly, while edge channels lock in grip upwind. with a progressive medium rocker and pulled-in tips the board planes early and stays composed when it's overpowered, and the medium-high outline curve carves cleanly.

The narrower stance and smaller size range matters a lot.  It's not a beginner board, although it can be ridden by beginners, it's a performance board scaled to lighter riders.

FlipTech inserts (inline footstrap inserts) let you rotate your pads and straps to ride the other edge, effectively doubling the life of the board if you're the sort of person who is likely to ride hard.
