North Rover Parawing

The North Rover Parawing is for riders who want to ride through waves  and get back again. Upwind drive is its strong suit, so instead of committing to a one-way downwinder and arranging a lift home, you can work away from the beach, ride and return to where you started. Power builds smoothly rather than arriving in surges, and the depower tab dumps power instantly when you want the wing out of the way or stashed so you can focus on the swell.

  • All-round freeride parawing
  • Lightweight hybrid canopy construction
  • Precision bridle system
  • Colour-coded A, B and C lines
  • Instant depower tab
  • Strong upwind drive, wide wind range
  • For intermediate to advanced foilers

Worth knowing: North say that the wing comes with an "on water backpack". This is not a stash bag, and it's certainly not the North Parawing Stash Belt/Wing Harness. It's the bag that the wind comes in that you can use on the water. The North Parawing Stash Belt/Wing Harness is available separately.

Our Test Team Thoughts

"Parawinging is the latest evolution of wing foiling. It feels incredibly light and free and you're flying a canopy that responds instantly and creates smooth, efficient power. The real advantage is freedom: when you no longer need it, the Rover can be depowered and either held in hand or stashed while you continue riding. It is ideal for riders chasing swell, doing downwinders, exploring or combining different styles of foiling."

Performance & Feel

Upwind the Rover drives rather than drifts so you can ride swell and and come back to the same spot. Power builds progressively through gusts rather than hitting in surges, so you aren't constantly managing it. Ahead of stashing the wing, the depower tab kills power immediately so you can hold it in hand or stash it and you carry on riding the swell.

The canopy is a lightweight hybrid construction with light structural elements built into the leading edge to create and hold its shape.  North has gone with a heavier-duty bridle line system which resists tangling that very thin lines are prone to and makes redeployment more predictable mid-run. The A, B and C lines are colour-coded so you can orient the wing quickly to redeploy. Line length sits at the longer end for a parawing, which adds a little power and takes some twitchiness out of handling.

Key Features

  • Hybrid canopy: lightweight, durable construction with light structural elements in the leading edge to create and hold shape
  • Precision bridle system: matched to the canopy for predictable power delivery and fast response
  • Depower tab: instant depower for stashing the wing and riding on
  • Colour-coded lines: A, B and C lines colour-coded to speed up orientation and redeployment
  • Heavier-duty bridle lines: enough stiffness to resist tangling and keep redeployment predictable
  • Longer line length: adds low-end power and reduces twitchiness compared with shorter-line parawings
