Performance & Feel

The single strut, open arc design is what sets the Catalyst V3 apart from the more delta-shaped kites that came before it. Losing the extra struts strips weight out of the kite, and the lighter result is what gives it such a friendly, easy-going character in the air, along with a wider usable wind range than you'd expect from a beginner kite. The bridles are direct so no pulley system so what you feel through the bar is genuine, direct Ozone handling.

Power delivery is smooth and progressive, with plenty of depower on tap for gusty days, and the kite tracks upwind well, so more of your session goes into riding rather than walking back upwind. Easy relaunching off the water and the Front Line Flag Out release gives you a straightforward, dependable way to dump power and release if you need to.

The Catalyst V3 has more to give than its beginner reputation suggests. Smooth lift and clear feedback make first jumps genuinely doable and its light weight and low-end power have also made it a favourite as a foiling and lightwind kiters as well as more experienced riders.
