The Reedin SuperModel HTF2 Kite is Reedin's signature all-rounder, and for 2024 it's had its biggest shake-up yet: up to 15% lighter across the range, with the 9m dropping around 450 grams. That kind of weight loss changes how a kite flies, not just how it feels carrying the bag, and it shows up as faster loops, quicker turning and noticeably better low-end power. "We first flew a SuperModel back in 2020, when the original launched, and it was good enough that several of us ended up with a full quiver. Every version since through the HTF and now the HTF2, has brought subtle improvements rather than a reinvention. Reedin set out to build a genuine all-rounder, and they've managed it. Normally a jack of all trades is master of none, but this one's the exception."

Performance & Feel

The SuperModel has always been Reedin's do-it-all platform, built around Kevin Langeree and Damien Girardin's own riding across twintip, wave and foil. What's changed this year is how much lighter that platform now is. Refined internal reinforcements, updated bladders and a reworked bridle attachment layout have taken up to 15% off the total weight. Lighter materials when in the air allow the kite to respond faster to input, and that shows up everywhere: earlier catches out of loops, quicker turning through the wingtips, and noticeably more drive when the wind is  marginal.

HTF2 does the steering work underneath that weight saving. The leading edge pairs stiff Dacron through the centre with a run of FlexLite Dacron at the turn zones so the centre holds its shape while the tips flex and react. A new 90gsm strut material carries that same idea through the frame, lighter and softer-flexing, translating bar input straight into the canopy rather than absorbing it. The bridle has grown from 8 attachment points to 12, which makes the kite even more stable in gusty or powered-up conditions and keeps its turning smooth rather than snatchy at the top of the wind range. Updated tension seams and trailing edge construction cut down on canopy flutter through aggressive loops too, so the kite finishes a turn cleanly instead of fighting itself on the way out.

The 14m and 16m are built as dedicated lightwind versions rather than scaled-up standard kites: wider wingtips and a full FlexLite leading edge make them super light and feel smaller than their size suggests when the wind's light.
