The Reedin WhisperModel 2026 Kite is Reedin's dedicated lightwind kite, built to get you out riding on days when everyone else is stuck on the beach. It flies from as little as 4 to 6 knots, and once it's in flight, it rides properly rather than just staying airborne. The kite gives a strong upwind pull as it sits forward in the wind window, giving the opportunity for real jumps and none of the sluggish, downwind truck-pull feel that usually comes with a big lightwind kite. It's a proper 3-strut construction too, not a single-strut design that most lightwind kites rely on, so when the wind does pick up you don't need to swap kites to keep having fun.

Performance & Feel

The WhisperModel is Reedin's answer to the days most riders would otherwise write off. It's built at Brainchild alongside the Reedin HyperModel. Designed by Damien Girardin and Ralf Grösel and it genuinely replaces the previous SuperModel Light Wind 14m and 16m kites. The WhisperModel picks comes in 13m, 15m and 17m. Unlike most lightwind kites, which rely on a single strut to keep weight down, the WhisperModel keeps a genuine 3-strut structure, which is what gives it real performance once the wind builds rather than just enough lift to stay airborne.

The primary weight saving comes from its PROWELD construction.  The leading edge segments are welded rather than stitched, cutting out a huge amount of reinforcement material. A Hardflyte canopy keeps drag low and the angle of attack high, which matters more in light air than almost anything else. A Pulley-less bridle system with  swept wingtips and battens that cut down flutter all work together to keep the kite reactive and the outside, steering lines have three settings so you can tune the steering and bar pressure to how you like to ride.

In the air it will fly from as low as around 4 to 6 knots and is genuinely rideable from about 6 knots, all without the sluggish feel that usually comes with a big kite. It doesn't backstall, so riding upwind in light wind is easy, and the bar feedback is precise enough that the kite feels noticeably smaller than its actual size. Relaunch is simple too: one steering line pulls it back up in most conditions, and in the lightest winds it'll relaunch flying backwards off both lines. When the wind does fill in, the depower and forward-flying character mean you don't need to swap kites to keep enjoying yourself, it won't kiteloop by design, but it'll downloop for transitions and jumps just fine.
