Shinn Baracus Kiteboard
The Shinn Baracus is the dedicated big air and freestyle board at the top of the Shinn range, built to handle the power and the landings that come with going as high as possible. A 3stage rocker profile designed specifically around grip, pop and edge hold in high-power conditions. Add the Dynamic Fin Positioning System, an adjustable fin angle to tune grip to the conditions on the day and you have a board built for riders who know what they want and want the tools to dial it in.
- Big air and freestyle twintip
- Basalt fibre and Paulownia Light wood construction
- 3-stage rocker for explosive pop and edge hold
- Full length overlapping drive channels with tunnel concave tips
- Dynamic Fin Positioning System, tunable fin angle
- Compatible with straps or bindings/boots
- Intermediate to advanced riders
- Shinn Fins (set of 4)available separately
- Shinn Sneaker 6 or HPC pads/straps available separately
Performance & Feel
The Baracus sits at the top of the Shinn board range as the specialist. The Monker is the all-rounder, the Dalton crosses disciplines the Baracus has one focus and that is going big and landing it. If your sessions are built around sending as hard as the wind allows, this is the board to look at.
The 3-stage rocker is where it starts. Every other board in the Shinn range uses the constant curve rocker; the Baracus uses a three-stage profile instead. That staged shape increases pop and edge hold, reduces spin-out and gives the board a more direct, planted feel when you load for a jump. It's a meaningful design decision, not a cosmetic one.
The channel layout is the most complex in the range. Full length drive channels overlap the rail and tip channels, which eliminates the flex zone just behind the rear foot — the area that typically gives way under the force of a hard landing. Tunnel concave tips add to that by preventing the fins catching on touchdown, which matters when you're landing with commitment or when things don't go exactly to plan. The mid-section rail bevel improves grip and carving ability further, letting you push harder on edge without the risk of washing out.
The Dynamic Fin Positioning System is new to this board. Fin angle affects the balance between grip and efficiency: more angle means more grip and edge hold in strong wind, less angle means faster release and better performance in lighter conditions. The DFPS lets you adjust that on the beach rather than committing to one setup for all conditions.
Construction is Basalt fibre over a Paulownia Light wood core, the same base materials as the Monker but shaped and stiffened through the rocker and channel design rather than a premium carbon wrap. It's stiff enough for hard landings, light enough not to penalise you in the air. Works with both straps and bindings/boots.
