Learning to dock start is hard on kit. You’ll mistime the jump, land on the board badly, and at some point the board will hit whatever you jumped off. The Puddle Pumper uses Slingshot’s most durable construction, a traditional wake-style sandwich, so it takes that punishment and keeps coming back. That toughness adds weight, and Slingshot balance it out by keeping the board down at 8L. You start from the dock rather than floating in the water, so you don’t need the volume. A short board also lets you pump with more angle on the board and front wing without the board touching the water.

Touchdowns happen when a pump action gets too low so the nose profile is shaped to recover cleanly when you reconnect with the water and the board picks up speed again and you can pump back up rather than ending your run. A full EVA deck pad gives you grip wherever your place your feet. The adjustable foil track lets you move the foil to fine-tune how the board pumps as your technique comes on.

This board is also great as a Kitefoil board.
